In the event of an active shooter situation, the A.S.E.S.S. can be quickly and easily deployed as a door barricade by affixing it to the door frames using the pre-installed-locking mechanism. This prevents both shooting into the classroom and physical entry by an active shooter resulting in a 'Safe Room' until help arrives.
The A.S.E.S.S. is designed to be easily maneuverable through doorways and down hallways as a mobile shield. If an active shooter is occupying another part of the building, the A.S.E.S.S. easily slips though the classroom doorways and into the hall, providing 24 sq. ft. of mobile ballistic cover allowing teachers and students to safely reach an exit and escape.
The A.S.E.S.S. can be deployed as a single unit or multiple units that can be easily tethered together in a 'Daisy Chain" and can be use to block entire sections of larger rooms, hallways or other access points to prevent an active shooter from entering other areas of the building.
The A.S.E.S.S. provides ballistic protection from incoming rounds of direct fire and can easily be moved into position to deflect indirect fire from above ( example in stairwells) by angling the upper panel of the rotating board, allowing for overhead protection during an escape from an active shooter.
